How to Update HP Color LaserJet Pro M281fdw Firmware
- Turn the printer off and then on again to clear the main printer memory.
- Double-click on the flash firmware update utility file. The HP firmware update window will open.
- Select the appropriate MFP in the dialog window. If you specified a different name for the HP MFP, choose the name that represents the correct printer.
- Click “Submit Firmware” when ready to proceed.
- The progress bar will start moving to the right indicating that the information is being transferred.
- DO NOT power off the product or computer during this process or the product may become unstable and/or unusable without further attention from HP. Flash firmware updates can take up to minutes to complete. Please be patient.
- During the product flash firmware update, the display on the product control panel will show “Erase – Programming – Complete – Hewlett-Packard – Ready – Initialization – Ready”. After the download is complete, the printer will be in the Ready state. At the end of the firmware update, a dialog window will display a smiley face.
- Click exit.
- The flash firmware update process is complete.
If you want to verify updates, use the control panel reports menu under setup, to print a configuration report. The configuration report will show the current firmware revision in the Product information block.
